Obstetrics & Gynecology

Our main office is in New Britain with additional offices in Plainville and Newington. As specialists in the health care of women, we welcome patients in childhood and adolescence, the reproductive years, and menopause.

Gynecologic services in the office setting include contraception, with non-judgmental counseling in the various methods, including oral contraceptives, the fitting of diaphragms, insertion of IUDs, implantation of Norplant, and administration of injectable contraception such as Depo-Provera. Cancer screening of the breast and pelvic organs is routinely performed. Additionally, the physicians in this office are trained in all of the surgical aspects of gynecologic care. This includes expertise in advanced endoscopic surgery (video laser laparoscopy and hysteroscopy) and the use of lasers and colposcopy (with cryosurgery and LLETZ). Infertility evaluations as well as many types of infertility surgery are expertly performed by our physicians. Bladder surgery and pelvic floor reconstructive surgeries are also performed where indicated, often in consultation with the Urology Department.

Our affiliation with the New Britain General Hospital and the University of Connecticut (staff and residents) assures that we maintain proficiency in all current treatment modalities through a continuing medical education and "peer review" process.

Obstetrics

Seven of us "deliver" Obstetric care in our offices which are equipped to handle not only the normal, but high-risk patients and pregnancies. Facilities for ultrasound and fetal monitoring are available at all three offices, allowing care of the most complex problems on site. Genetic counseling is offered and amniocentesis is performed when indicated.

A trained, friendly and caring medical staff is on hand to assist in assuring the health of your pregnancy and is sensitive to medical, social, financial, and insurance issues. Additionally, Lamaze classes are taught in the Grove Hill office on selected days, should one choose that option as an alternative to classes taught in the community.

Our APRN's works in the New Britain Office, broadening the scope of sensitive care for normal obstetrical patients, guiding them through their pregnancies, as well as providing normal, ongoing gynecologic services (with physicians consultation if indicated). She personifies the Grove Hill tradition of personal, family-centered, understanding care.
