Physiatrists or physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians are experts in nerve, muscle and bone disorders and treat injuries or illnesses that make you move. Physiatrists try to restore maximum function to patients with disabling conditions, are expert in diagnosing and treating pain issues and explaining patients medical problems and treatment plans. My practice focuses heavily on musculoskeletal and nerve issues with a focus on spinal disorders. My practice is limited to patients adolescent and adults, 15 years and older.
Various Diagnoses encountered include: Neck pain, Low Back Pain, Thoracic pain, Sacral pain, rib pain, tension headaches, myofascial pain syndrome such as piriformis syndrome and various shoulder girdle pain generators, fibromyalgia, sacroiliac condiditons, sciatica and other painful disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous sytems. I perform nerve conduction studies and electrmyogram/EMG to uncover diagnoses such as carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, cervical and lumbar radiculopathies among other disorders. I work with other medical specialists in a team approach including orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and physical therapists.
